CHENGDU IN BRIEF

Chengdu  is a city in central China, the main administrative center of Sichuan Province. It is one of the three most popular cities in western China next to Chongqing and Xi'an. According to the latest data, the metropolitan area is inhabited by nearly 16 million people. The population is constantly increasing because in 1999 the metropolitan area had 10 222 643 inhabitants. Chengu is an economic and cultural-scientific center. In particular high technology, electronics, machine, chemical, wood, mineral, light, food and metallurgy industries have developed there. It is also a production and agricultural center. Because of its location, the city is called the Heavenly Land or Land of Plenty. Over 260 out of Fortune 500 companies (annual ranking of 500 largest American companies) have located their branches in Chengdu.

PARTNER COOPERATION

In 2013, after more than two years of preparation, regular express cargo transport from south-west China to Łódź was launched. Thanks to this, the city of Łódź has become a recognizable center in the arena of southwestern China, which can participate in the economic development of the country and the European Union.

Cooperation with Chengdu is also based on the exchange of information technologies, new energy, cultural and academic exchange. Chengdu cultural institutions have established cooperation with counterparts in Lodz, focusing on similar projects of both cities, paying special attention to festivals and cultural offer.
